US Team at Beach Soccer World Cup in Brazil, 2007
April 14th, 2009

Having failed to qualify for last year’s Beach Soccer World Cup, a first for the US, new head coach Eddie Soto and his squad are looking for an immediate return this year. The American team heads down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the CONCACAF Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers from April 29 through May 3. This year’s finals will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the US is hoping to book its place among the world’s elite. Joining the US in Puerto Vallarta are reigning CONCACAF champions Mexico, El Salvador, Canada, Costa Rica, and Bahamas. The US is also seeking to reclaim its title as CONCACAF champion, which it won in 2006 and 2007. El Salvador and Mexico were the region’s representatives in last year’s Beach Soccer World Cup, held in Marseilles, France. Canada returns after a two year absence from the competition. Bahamas are competing for the first time in a Beach Soccer World Cup event. Two teams will advance to Dubai in November and compete for the ultimate prize: the Beach Soccer World Cup. American Beach Soccer wishes the best of luck to the US players in their quest for success.[BACK TO NEWS PAGE]
